Not my greatest effort but wanted to get some brush practice after a bit of a lay before I tackle the Angron miniature I picked up at Gamesday. The Stormraven itself is in construction at the moment and I will be starting on the Vanguard Vets as soon as I finalise the load out.
Here in my deep dark basement you will find examples of my dark craft, this will be sawing drilling and the spillage of fluids all in the name of art! I will be keeping a record of many finished, as well as many unfinished projects during my many forays into the miniature painting world. I will endeavour to post regular updates but don't hold your breath! So its time to dim lights and if your sitting comfortably we can get on with the show!

Scythes of the Emperor - Chaplain
As part of my expansion project for my Scythes I decided to add a chaplain partly because I fancy occasionally switching the Blood Angel Codex to run a Storm Raven full of Vanguard Vets led by a Chaplain and Apothecary (Sanguinary Priest). To this end I kept to a fairly standard model and just did a little fiddle around with the back pack.

Scythes of the Emperor - Objective markers
Just popping in to post up some crappy phone photos of the objectives I bashed out to go with the army. There are two dead marines to be salvaged and a wounded Scythe waiting to be recovered.
So there you go, they still need some tufts but that will fall into the "finishing touches" that are currently underway for the army. Once thats done I just have to work out what additions I want to make before sorting out a shiny army case to fit it all in.

Making a rod for my own back - The Medicator
So now that the end is near for the original army build for my Scythes my mighty bag of ideas for idiot distractions finally gets opened. I always had a list of thing that I wanted to add to this army that would allow me to mix things up from time to time. This includes standard marine stuff, I have a chaplain and fighty veteran unit planned. I also have in mind some human auxila that hopefully will be able to double between Imperial Guard units and Space Marine Codex entries. More will be revealed in time but for now I present the "Medicator". This was built to fill the role of both Vindicator (SM) or enclosed Medusa (IG) so I endeavoured to smash together a Vindicator and a Hellhound. This is still WIP in progress but the overall shape can be seen as to how it will turn out.
To resolve the weapon differences I can swap out the turret depending on option being used.
So now I just have figure out some camo netting to hide the plasticard areas and save me a lot of detailing work.
Scythes of the Emperor - Pedro Kantor aka "the filthy mexican"
So I did have a prototype stand in for this chap that I created for a tournament at my local GW store, however he was trashed once I got my hands on some Zinge Industry ammo belts at Salute as I felt his "Dorns Arrow" might be somewhat greedy when it comes to ammo. So hear is the mkII version which I'm most of the way through painting.
Sorry about the iffy phone pics but its a quick but raw way of getting images up. Now that i'm so close to completing the original part of the project I fully intend to go back and take proper photos of everything once i'm done.
Scythes of the Emperor - Sternguard again (complete)
So while I was away I got this unit finished so I thought I would grab a quick phone snap for the time being to prove I have been hard at work. These also have had the Scythe chapter symbol added as I spent a little time going through all the units adding this icon. The other units still need unit designations doing but I'm halfway through that particular chore for now. Without further a do here's the dodgy photo.
Now for those of you keeping count you will remember i know only have my Pedro Kantor stand in aka "the filthy mexican" to get cracking with, however keep your eyes peeled as there is an update in the offing.

Scythes of the Emperor - Sternguard again
So I haven't forgotten about my Scythes just yet, I've managed to get two of them pretty much finished and another two on the way as seen below.
Standards are slipping a bit but I really just want to get this army finished off up to 1850 pts so I can spend more time on other projects. After these I just have the Sergeant to finish for this squad then my Kantor counts as conversion to sort out before finishing off insignia and take bases.

Scythes of the Emperor - Landspeeder Typhoons Complete
Well as always the word "complete" comes with the usual provisos that they are complete barring insignia. So Douche Canoe squadron is now up to full strength and ready to go. Its getting worrying now as until the inevitable happens and I get a transport blown up I have a fully painted army, only five Sternguard and my Kantor stand in are letting down the party. I picked up some ammo feeds from Zinge industries at salute so the will be some further refinement to his design in the not too distant future. Anyway heres some photos!
Fully painted army here we come! TTFN

Scythes of the Emperor - Landspeeder Typhoons - Part Three
Well I finally finished one of these off barring the Insignia, hopefully it won't be long before I et it's friend taken care off but I get distracted easily.

Scythes of the Emperor - Landspeeder Typhoons - Part 2
As promised a little update for my scythes. The yellow is done on both of these and i'm just getting started into getting the metal basecoats and first washes on at the moment. Hopefully will crack on with these over the next couple of weeks. Heres some photos anyway.
Also a sneak pek of the last few bits needed for this army.

Scenery - GW Blastscape
So in between doing other odd jobs, college, work and drinking I have also managed to bash this out. Just a standard GW blastscape with the Rhino painted in honour of my Scythes inability to pass dangerous terrain rolls.
Who knows what will pop up next!

Scythes of the Emperor - Contemptor - Nearly finished
So here we are another miniature nears completion, this is pretty much done barring some tufts and insignia. Decided to go with a red helmet (Fnar) as the black one just seemed to sink into his mightily tubby yellow majesty. So behold the photos of none other than "Tubbs" the Contemptor.
A couple of spots need another coat of matt varnish but otherwise this is as good as done awaiting its finishing touches.

Scythes of the Emperor - Contemptor - Part 1
Now I wasn't going to have Dreadnoughts (and a few other things) for fluff reasons, however I had to find another hundred points for the aforementioned tournament and had one knocking around (as you do). Like the Speeders I got the base finished and not much further but here he is anyway "Tubs" the Contemptor.
I have actually made a bit more progress on this fellow but as I intend to get some painting done on him tomorrow before work I figure that a snapshot can wait a little longer (such a tease).
Scythes of the Emperor - Landspeeder Typhoons - Part 1
To cut back on painting I decided to "convert" some Forgeworld Tempests into Typhoons to save painting the crew. However these got put way back due to a missing component but all the bits are here now. While I was waiting I did get as far as sorting out the bases as seen below.
Also quickly bunged a "Typhoon" on top of one so people could get a rough idea.
Scythes of the Emperor - Predator
As promised photos are indeed inbound, photobucket appears to have fixed itself (who can understand the vagueries of the machine spirit) so its time to get on with the show. I was trying to get this army finished for a one day tournament at my local GW (incidentally our team sucked and took home the wooden spoon, oops), however the plans of mice and men go oft awry and I failed. However it does mean I managed more progress over that time than I would have, this includes getting the this predator up to the same standard as the previously featured Las-Plas Razorback.
Pics are very ropey as I took them just next to the window for light but I think you get the general idea.

Scythes of the Emperor - Las Plas Razorback
Well I was going to try and do a bit more of a step by step bit of blogging for this one but things have changed. I have a one day tournament on Feb 4th that requires everything to be painted and as the tickets only went on sale four weeks before the event i'm going to have to pull my finger out.
So the photos jump from this
So the photos jump from this
To these ones
So it's mostly finished barring a few touch up's, transfers and a base. I'm going to be leaving the transfers and baseing til I have the predator I'm about to start work on up to the same standard and do them both together.
So with a bit of luck, hard work and fitting things around work and man-whoreing I should have the army virtually complete by the beginning of February. So hang onto your hat's folks, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Scythes of the Emperor - Scout Bikers - Finished
Well as far as finished ever gets for me, so these guys still need a rim job (fnar) and their iconography (as well as needing a dust). These have been finished a little while but work is always crazy over the festive period and I think i'm finally sober enough to start posting again. The photos aren't great quality but wanted to get something to show i'm still alive.
